Part 6: Unexpected

We want a King who can put things right—but what happens when His way challenges our own? God’s promise to David creates an expectation of a coming King whose kingdom will endure. Peter recognizes Jesus as that Messiah, but cannot imagine a King who suffers and dies. Jesus fulfills the promise in an unexpected way: He lays down His life for His people and calls His followers to walk the same path. As we surrender our need for control and learn to extend mercy, make peace, and love even our enemies, we make our King visible to the world.
