Part 2: Still By the Sea

Most of us are wired for action. One of the mantras of our modern, frantic culture is, “Don’t just stand there. Do something.” But what if our addiction to action actually feeds our fear and weakens our faith? In Exodus 14, Israel finds themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea. Their instinct is panic, complaint, and retreat. But God’s word through Moses is clear: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Sometimes when we feel trapped, our first impulse is to fix, force, or flee. But God invites us to be still, wait, and trust. Because when we learn to wait on Him, fear can become faith.
